Attila Timar-Peregrin is the Executive Director, Medical Affairs & Therapeutic Area Lead, Digestive Diseases, at Worldwide Clinical Trials. He has more than two decades of research experience as a pre-clinical and clinical researcher, study supervisor, principal investigator, chief investigator and subject matter expert for clinical studies in gastroenterology, inflammatory and rare diseases, with a special focus on gastrointestinal disorders like Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (including Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis), Celiac disease, Eosinophilic Esophagitis, Irritable Bowel Disease and other gastrointestinal secretory and motility disorders e.g. gastroparesis, diabetic enteropathies but also hepatic conditions including Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, Primary Biliary Cholangitis, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis.

Dr. Timar-Peregrin has been the lead medical expert in more than 40 GI/ hepatology studies, including: ENTERPRISE 4003, EARNEST 4004 and the 4006 vedolizumab Takeda studies, BUILD-UC Pfizer, PIONEER Nestle, PREVENT Centocor, UNITI/IMUNITI Janssen, Rejuvenate UCB, ADMIRE-CD Tigenix, CONDUCT Index and UNIFI Janssen studies. He has worked with small molecules, biological treatments (novel, biosimilars, biobetters), stem cell treatment, microbial treatments, other experimental treatments, and medical devices in GI and rare diseases.
Dr. Timar-Peregrin also has expertise in regulatory consulting including market assessment and placement, as well as global pipeline, growth, and landscape evaluation. Prior to joining Worldwide as Executive Director of Medical Affairs and Therapeutic Area Lead Expert for the Digestive Diseases Group, Dr. Timar-Peregrin served as senior medical expert in gastroenterology at PAREXEL, Robarts Clinical Trials, and IQVIA Biotech conducting Phase 1 through 4 clinical studies. He is credited on more than 35 publications in such peer reviewed journals as Science, Gastroenterology, and British Journal of Pharmacology.
Dr. Timar-Peregrin received his medical degree and Ph.D. in gastrointestinal pathophysiology from Sweden’s Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg and received registration in medicine from the University of Pecs in Hungary. He was selected to be a clinical research fellow in neurogastroenterology and cardiology at Melbourne University and The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne Australia. He also holds an appointment as Distinguished Visiting Professor at Semmelweis University in Budapest, Hungary.
